Start with the smallest rule that matches the job. WPLocation Free 1.1.0 targets WordPress pages, posts, post categories, blocks and shortcode sections. WPLocation Pro 1.0.0 adds WooCommerce products and product categories. A rule controls visibility by estimated visitor country; it is not a login or legal access control.

Pick the scope

You want to change Use Guide
A complete standalone page Page rule Pages
A group of editorial posts Category rule Categories
One editorial post Post rule Posts
One section within a page Country visibility block or shortcode Block · Shortcodes
A WooCommerce item or group Pro product or product-category rule WooCommerce

Understand overlapping rules

For a post, both its own rule and every assigned post-category rule must allow the visitor. A post rule cannot override a category denial. In Pro, a product rule and each assigned product-category or ancestor-category rule must all allow the visitor. Keep broad exclusions easy to audit; use a more specific rule only when it does not conflict with a broad one.

Decide what happens when the country is unknown

When country detection fails, an actively restricted page, post, product, block or shortcode section is hidden. Unrestricted content remains available. For a blocked singular page or post, Free returns a 404 through the theme. Test the experience before publishing. See restricted-content behavior.

Test one example before applying many

  1. Save a test rule for one item.
  2. Use the rule editor’s saved-result check for one allowed and one denied country.
  3. Confirm the database is healthy in WPLocation → Diagnostics.
  4. Test the public URL with your page cache and CDN in place.
