Forms & Campaigns is included in WPLocation Pro 1.3.0. Keep WPLocation Free 1.1.0 or newer active with a current licensed local country database. No second add-on ZIP or license is needed. Formidable Forms is needed for form experiences; native offer cards work without it.
Before you start
- Back up the site and test on staging. Confirm Free detects a known address under WPLocation → Diagnostics.
- If you want forms, install and activate Formidable Forms. Build and publish each form there. Configure required consent, anti-spam, notifications and any CRM actions in Formidable, then submit a test entry.
- Check page and CDN caching for the page where you will place the campaign. A shared cache must bypass or vary the response by country.
Create a campaign
- Open WPLocation → Forms & Campaigns. Enter a private name and choose a required default experience: a published Formidable form or an offer card with title, message, button and complete HTTP(S) URL.
- Add country variants. Select one or more countries per variant, then choose a published form or offer card. A country can appear in only one variant within a campaign.
- Leave the campaign paused while you save it. In “Preview a decision,” choose the campaign and a visitor country; also check “Unknown / fallback.” Preview shows which experience was selected, not a sample form submission.
- Activate the campaign. Copy its saved shortcode, for example
, into a WordPress Shortcode block. Replace 123 with the campaign’s actual ID. - Visit the page as allowed, excluded and unknown countries. Submit each selected Formidable form in staging and confirm its entries and actions in Formidable.
How a visitor’s experience is chosen
Pro uses Free’s local IP-to-country estimate. A matching variant selects its form or offer; an unmatched or unknown country gets the default. If a variant form is unpublished or Formidable is inactive, that visitor gets the default. If the default is an unavailable form, the campaign displays nothing until an administrator repairs it. A paused campaign displays nothing. These choices are presentation, not security or legal-residence verification.
Forms, privacy and caching
WPLocation stores campaign definitions as private WordPress posts and metadata. It does not store visitor IP addresses, impressions or form entries. Formidable handles form data, validation, spam controls, consent fields and configured submission actions. A native offer button opens the URL you set; WPLocation does not append the visitor’s country or form data.
Pages with a directly embedded campaign shortcode request no-store. A CDN, host cache or builder output can still serve a response before WordPress runs or hide the shortcode from early detection. Configure a bypass or safe country variation for every campaign page, purge the cache and test through the real public route.
Limits and troubleshooting
- Up to 50 campaigns and 20 country variants per campaign are supported. Reusable groups, schedules, analytics, direct CRM routing and other form builders are not part of this release.
- If the form selector is empty, check that Formidable is active and the forms are published. Its Free 7.0 form workflow was tested in an isolated WordPress 7.1.3 / PHP 8.3 lab; verify your installed Formidable edition and extensions on staging.
- If the wrong experience appears, confirm the Free database and client IP in Diagnostics, inspect the private decision preview, then inspect the real page cache/CDN response.
- If submissions fail, submit the same Formidable form without a campaign first, then inspect its validation, actions and anti-spam settings.
