WPLocation is a project of TechAbout LLC. This policy describes information handled by wplocation.com, its software store and support service. Contact [email protected] with privacy questions.
Purchases, accounts and downloads
When you buy software, we record the contact and billing information you provide, the products and plans purchased, order totals, payment references and status, and subscription details. Your account connects these records with your downloads and licenses. WordPress and Easy Digital Downloads also use account, session and download records to provide access and investigate errors or abuse.
The Free Downloads form records the email address and other information you submit with the download request. The Download without email option does not require an email address. Ordinary web-server and security logs can still record requests, including IP addresses and browser information.
Payments and subscriptions
Stripe processes payments and recurring subscriptions. Card information entered in Stripe’s payment fields is processed by Stripe; our store keeps payment references and transaction status to connect payments with orders and licenses. See Stripe’s privacy policy for its processing. You can manage future subscription renewals from My Account.
License activation and software updates
Activating or checking a paid license and requesting an update sends the license key, site URL and software details to wplocation.com over HTTPS. We use activated site URLs, license status and expiry information to manage site limits and update access. Optional diagnostic tracking in the Pro license dialog is off by default. License keys and signed download links are private access credentials; do not post them publicly.
Location lookups on your own WordPress site
WPLocation Free performs country lookups using a local database on the site where it is installed. Pro adds targeting rules; it does not add a visitor IP log. Downloading a GeoLite2 database uses the site owner’s MaxMind account or a separately supplied licensed file. Database downloads and provider account use are subject to that provider’s terms. This website’s account and licensing records are separate from the visitor data handled by your own site.
Support and service emails
Our contact form stores the details and message you submit and sends a notification so we can respond. Support correspondence is handled through Microsoft 365. We send purchase receipts, account setup and password-recovery messages, and relevant license or subscription notices to provide the service. Do not send passwords, payment-card details or full license keys in a support message; an order number is usually sufficient.
Cookies, security and service providers
WordPress and Easy Digital Downloads use cookies for sign-in, sessions and the shopping cart. Stripe may use cookies and related technology for payment processing and fraud prevention. Our hosting service and Cloudflare handle website delivery, security and request logs. These providers process information needed for their services. Our site also loads font resources from Google Fonts. Follow the relevant provider’s privacy policy for details about its processing.
Comments, uploads and embedded content
If you leave a comment, WordPress collects the submitted fields and may use your IP address and browser details for spam detection. An anonymized email hash may be sent to Gravatar to display an avatar; see Automattic’s privacy policy. Comments and their metadata may be retained indefinitely. Avoid uploading images containing location or other private metadata. Content embedded from another website may collect data or use cookies as if you visited that website.
Retention, access and deletion requests
Account, order, license and support records are retained to provide downloads, administer subscriptions, resolve support or billing issues, and meet recordkeeping needs. Backups can retain earlier copies. You can ask for access to or correction of your personal information, or request deletion, by contacting [email protected]. We may need to verify the request. Records required for administrative, legal or security purposes may need to be retained.
