Geo Redirects

Guide visitors to the page made for their country.

Your first regional route

  1. 01

    Choose two pages

Select an original published page and a regional destination on the same site.

  2. 02

    Choose the audience

Include or exclude countries, set priority, and save the rule paused.

  3. 03

    Preview and activate

Check matching and non-matching countries, then test through your real CDN.

Included with Pro

Geo Redirects ships inside the Pro plugin. It needs WPLocation Free 1.1.0 or newer for a configured local country source. There is no separate add-on download, license, or per-lookup charge. Read the setup guide →

Country-aware destinations

A clear route, with a safe fallback.

Use page redirects for regional landing pages, help centers, or local content journeys. Existing Free and Pro visibility rules continue to apply.

01 / PAGES

Country-to-page rules

Route between published standard pages on your site. No external destination or permanent redirect is created.

02 / CHOICE

Let visitors stay

An optional shortcode gives visitors a first-party choice to stay on the original page for 30 days.

03 / CONTROL

Priority and preview

Use include or exclude audiences, set rule priority, and preview a saved country decision before activation.

04 / SAFETY

Loop and cache guidance

Looping rules are rejected on save. Active source pages send no-store headers; your upstream cache still needs its own configuration.

Example

A global support page can send a visitor detected in Canada to a Canadian support page. An unknown location or a visitor who chooses to stay continues to see the global page.

Before you activate a route

Check the real request path.

Redirects are HTTP 302 for GET and HEAD requests to published standard pages. Cart, checkout, account, login and purchase pages are excluded. Query strings are not carried to the destination. A country that cannot be detected stays on the original page.

Search engines and caches may visit from a different country than your customers. Keep regional pages discoverable through normal links and test canonical and indexing behavior for your own content.

Cache and privacy

An upstream CDN or full-page cache can respond before WordPress runs. Bypass or vary original pages by country and visitor-choice cookie, then test each route. Redirects are not access control for confidential content.

Geo Redirects adds no hosted lookup call, credits, visitor IP log or analytics. The optional visitor-choice cookie stores only the choice.

Questions, answered

What to expect.

Do I need a separate Geo Redirects plugin or license?

No. The feature ships inside WPLocation Pro 1.1.0 and uses the existing Pro license for updates and support. Keep Free and Pro active.

Can a visitor keep the original page?

Yes. Add to the regional page and replace 123 with the original page ID. The visitor can choose to stay on the original page for 30 days.

Can it redirect products or checkout?

No. Geo Redirects handles published standard pages only. Pro’s separate WooCommerce rules manage product visibility and purchase checks.

Will it work through every cache and CDN?

No plugin can redirect a request that an upstream cache answers before WordPress runs. Configure that cache for the original URLs and test matching, non-matching and visitor-choice requests through your actual delivery stack.
